Did you know that on average 160 people drown in Ireland each year? Most of these tragic deaths happen inland, in rivers and lakes, on farms and in and around homes and these accidents are preventable.
Great excitement greeted Irish Water Safety’s National Junior Lifesaving Team Ireland on their return from the European Lifesaving Championships in Belgium. Pictured are Nipper Lifesavers with their gold, silver and bronze medals and the National Nipper Trophy won by Clare, on the same week that the Junior Team Ireland Lifesavers returned from Belgium with their gold, silver and bronze! Team Ireland’s Boys finished 1st in beach for Europe and 6th overall. The girls finished 9th in beach and 10th overall. The combined team finished 8th overall, winning 2 Golds, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze. In the process, the team set 6 new Irish records. Learn Lifesaving skills with Irish Water Safety.
