02 Mullaghmore - Sligo County Council has been notified by An Taisce that Mullaghmore Beach has retained its ‘Blue Flag’ status. It is unfortunate that cattle regularly gain access to this beach from the adjoining commonage land with a number of incidents reported last year. For Health & Safety reasons Sligo County Council will not be in a position to provide Lifeguards for the 2009 bathing season therefore the Blue Flag cannot be raised. Sligo County Council have actively sought a resolution to the problem, however as this is private land, the cooperation of the land owners is essential. Members of the public use the beach at their own risk and should not approach or attempt to move cattle.
