Lifeguarded Waterways

 

CARLOW

Carlow County Council employ river lifeguards  who are on duty commencing at 2pm until 5pm and  from 6pm to 8pm each day of the week on the River Barrow. The popular bathing locations on the River Barrow  at which the Council provide a lifeguard service are:

Clashganna Borris  - towpath areas adjacent to weir  and quay;

Bagenalstown - towpath areas adjacent to Boat Slip and Swimming pool.

CLARE

Spanish Point; Lahinch; Fanore; Bishops Quarter, Ballyvaughan; Doolin; Whitestrand; Milltown Malby; Seafield Quilty; Whitestrand Doonbeg; Kilkee; Cappagh Pier, Kilrush; Mountshannon; Ballycuggeran; Killaloe

CORK

Beachguards are employed in Cork for Weekends in June and full time for July & August. Then for the first two weekends in September, 10.30am - 7pm at the following beaches:

Youghal (Two Stations); Garryvoe; Garrettstown; Inchydoney; Owenahincha; Barleycove; Fountainstown

FINGAL​

All of Fingal’s beaches are guarded from 11am to 7pm during the bathing season.

Lifeguards are provided for weekends only in June and daily throughout July and August. Lifeguards will be on duty on the Blue Flag beaches for the first two weekends only in September.

MAYO

Lifeguarded 12:00 to 18:30 every day in July & August.  Weekends only in June

Westport-Bartra; Louisburg-Old Head,Carramore; Carrowniskey, Newport-Mullranny, Achill Island-Keel,Keem,Dugort, Silver Strand, Killala-Ross

Arklow South Beach (Non Blue Flag Beach) from 12.30 pm to 6.30. pm daily, during July and August.
